Our fire damage restoration services begin with boarding up all areas that have been exposed to the elements, such as roofs, ceilings, windows and doors. Based on our experience, this ensures your property and its contents are protected from any further damage. Our contents cleaning team then packs up your personal property, moves your furniture to our deodorization room, and cleans and stores it until our restoration work is complete.

Fire Damage Restoration FAQs
How long will the fire restoration process take?
The length of time to restore a fire damaged property depends on the severity of damage, the amount of square footage affected, and the materials that are impacted. The time to restore damage caused by a grease fire in a 3,000 square foot home will be considerably shorter than the time to restore a 4,500 square foot home with roof and structural damage caused by an electrical fire or lightning strike. Fire damage restoration that mostly involves cleaning and deodorization can be completed in less than a month in some cases. Fire damage reconstruction that requires engineers, building permits, and numerous trades contractors can take anywhere from six months to a year to complete.
Can I stay in my home during the fire damage restoration process?
It depends. For small fires, if you still have power, and if containment can be set to separate you from the affected area, or if emergency cleaning can be done as soon as the loss occurs, you may be able to stay in your home. If you are unable to stay in your home, check with your insurance agent to verify your additional living expenses coverage to confirm if there are provisions for you to find alternative housing while repairs are taking place.
Will my home insurance policy cover the fire damage restoration?
Typically, yes, considering fires are sudden occurences. However, your carrier will make a determination of coverage based on your policy.
What is the first step of the fire restoration process?
An inspection and evaluation are the first steps of fire restoration. During that process, decisions are made regarding what can be restored and repaired.
Is anything salvageable after a fire?
Yes, many items, ranging from building materials to your personal property, are salvageable after a fire. When determining whether personal property should be restored, it all depends on the severity of damage and the cost to restore versus the cost to replace. For building materials, as long as the integrity of the material was not compromised in the fire, many items can be cleaned and restored instead of replaced.
How do you clean up smoke damage from a fire?
The first step of fire damage cleaning is using ventiliation and special equipment to clean the air, remove loose particles, and deodorize the affected areas. Then, cleaning is performed to remove loose residue, and those methods vary based on the type of surface affected. From there, we determine if the affected materials can be returned to a pre-loss condition through various specialized methods, or if replacement is needed.
Josh arranged to come inspect the soot damage from our gas logs promptly. He came a second time to meet with our insurance adjuster. He sent a great team of Jeff, Ryan, Becca, Tina and Valerie. They all worked hard for several days to clean the parts of our home that had been impacted by the soot. I highly recommend PHC.
I appreciate all the hard work and expertise provided by PHC to mitigate the fire and smoke damage to my home, clean and care for its contents, and repair structural damages.
Jeremy Jones is an amazing project manager with the knowledge of home construction and reliability needed to coordinate multiple stages of mitigation and home repair. He is professional and courteous and never fails to respond to a request or inquiry. Thank you, Jeremy!
Toby Williams is a true “jack-of-all-trades” and I also appreciate his workmanship throughout the period of home repairs. I want to thank Natalie, Rebecca and Tina, and fellow crew members for their hard work and positive attitudes during the early days of mitigation, content cleaning, and setting my house back in order. Thanks, also, to the office staff at PHC for their courtesy and patience as I worked through the process of payment schedules and insurance matters.
