Attentive Restoration Professionals

PHC Restoration uses an inventory system to digitally photograph and inventory all contents on site after a loss. This system enables us to create reports detailing the condition of every affected item and the ability to track and pull contents as needed from where they are safely stored as the process occurs. This allows the contents cleaning process and your restoration services to be more efficient, providing a faster turnaround time for you and your insurance company. Our experience and attention to every detail is what puts us head and shoulders above other restoration companies.

Content Cleaning Process

When the process begins, our seasoned Contents Cleaning technicians hand wash your delicate items and use ultrasonic cleaning machines to clean most other contents. Ultrasonic cleaning uses high frequency sound waves through water to remove smoke residue, mold, heat scale, oxides, and even microscopic dust and soot from tiny crevices that are unreachable by hand. The use of this specialized equipment allows PHC to clean the contents of your home quickly, allowing your household goods and personal belongings to be available to you as soon as possible. We can clean items that were once considered not cleanable, thus reducing the number of write-offs or total losses.

Content Cleaning & Restoration FAQs

What is the first step of the contents cleaning process?

Evaluating damaged contents is the first step of the contents cleaning process. This involves walking through the property with the customer to review the items that are sentimentally valuable, and which items can and should be restored, and which items will not be restored.

What are “contents”?

Contents is another word for personal property, which is an insurance term for the items that you own. We like to say that if you took your house and turned it upside down, everything that would fall out is your Contents.

What is non-salvage vs salvageable?

Non-salvageable contents (also called “total loss” or “non-resotrable”) refers to items that are either damaged beyond repair or the cost to restore far exceeds the cost to replace.

Do you take inventory of all items?
Yes, all contents are inventoried, whether they are to be restored or if they are non-salvageable, and the customer receives both inventory reports.
Who covers the cost of content cleaning?

It depends on your insurance coverage. Tenants should purchase their own personal property coverage to ensure their contents can be cleaned, moved, or stored should damage occur in the property their landlord owns. Property owners should work with their insurance agent to verify there is sufficient coverage to replace the contents of a property in the case of damage that results in a total loss.

How long could content cleaning take?

Contents cleaning is usually timed so that they are ready to be delivered once repairs or reconstruction is compete. Once the contents arrive to our processing facility, they are placed in a deodorization chamber. Once deodorized, cleaning begins. After contents are cleaned, they are placed in clean packing materials and put in storage until the work on the property is complete and contents are ready to be moved back in place.

What type of properties do you service?

We service residential, commercial, government, healthcare, and educational properties.

Do you repair items that have been damaged?

We do perfom minor repairs of damaged contents. For specialty restoration of furniture, artwork, textiles, and electronics, we work with specialty vendors to bring those items back to pre-loss condition.
