What is the first step of the contents cleaning process?
Evaluating damaged contents is the first step of the contents cleaning process. This involves walking through the property with the customer to review the items that are sentimentally valuable, and which items can and should be restored, and which items will not be restored.
What are “contents”?
Contents is another word for personal property, which is an insurance term for the items that you own. We like to say that if you took your house and turned it upside down, everything that would fall out is your Contents.
What is non-salvage vs salvageable?
Non-salvageable contents (also called “total loss” or “non-resotrable”) refers to items that are either damaged beyond repair or the cost to restore far exceeds the cost to replace.
Do you take inventory of all items?
Who covers the cost of content cleaning?
It depends on your insurance coverage. Tenants should purchase their own personal property coverage to ensure their contents can be cleaned, moved, or stored should damage occur in the property their landlord owns. Property owners should work with their insurance agent to verify there is sufficient coverage to replace the contents of a property in the case of damage that results in a total loss.
How long could content cleaning take?
Contents cleaning is usually timed so that they are ready to be delivered once repairs or reconstruction is compete. Once the contents arrive to our processing facility, they are placed in a deodorization chamber. Once deodorized, cleaning begins. After contents are cleaned, they are placed in clean packing materials and put in storage until the work on the property is complete and contents are ready to be moved back in place.

Do you repair items that have been damaged?
We do perfom minor repairs of damaged contents. For specialty restoration of furniture, artwork, textiles, and electronics, we work with specialty vendors to bring those items back to pre-loss condition.
