Farmers Insurance does a good job in this video bringing humor to a very serious threat to everyone who uses a clothes dryer in their home. There are over 15,000 reported clothes dryer fires reported every year. While this doesn’t appear to be a large number, most of these could have been prevented. The NFPA states that the leading cause of home dryer fires is failure to keep them clean. Here are a few other tips to help keep you prevent dryer fire in your home:
- make sure you clean the lint filter before or after each load of laundry
- don’t overload the dryer
- do not leave the dryer running when you go to bed or leave home
- keep the area around your dryer clear of things that can burn
