It is that time of year again…Hurricane Season which runs from June 1st until November 30th.  Historically, NC isn’t impacted until late August and into September, but this year we saw the first named Tropical Storm form off the coast on SC on May 19th and the season’s second storm could bring rain along the NC coast this Memorial Day weekend; so it is never too early to get prepared.  Below are some Storm Damage and Hurricane preparation tips:

  • Protect all openings of your home from winds and rain
  • Trim your trees
  • Identify loose items located in your yard and bring them indoors when a storm is threatening
  • Have a battery powered radio available
  • Turn off propane tanks
  • Fill up your car’s gas tank
  • Be careful of washed out bridges and flooded roads

Over the years, PHC has seen different effects that storm damage has had on homes and businesses.   Although the Triangle area isn’t along the NC coast, we are still at risk for water damage, wind damage and damage to homes/businesses as a result of falling trees and other debris.  Please take caution when placed in a warning area during any kind of weather emergency.

PHC wants to wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend and if you are heading to the beach we hope it stays relatively dry for you.
